Enzo Fernandez Opens up About Chelsea Form Before Deciding on Surgery

Enzo Fernandez, the Chelsea midfielder, has confessed that his attempt to continue playing despite suffering from a hernia was detrimental to the team's performance.

However, Fernandez took the necessary step to undergo surgery last month, following a period of intense scrutiny regarding his displays for Chelsea. It is worth noting that the team has remained undefeated since the Argentine player opted for the surgical intervention.

In an interview with DSports, Fernandez disclosed the extensive duration during which his performance on the field was affected by the injury.

"I endured pain and relied on injections for a period of eight months," Fernandez shared. "Eventually, I had to opt for surgery as it was the most suitable course of action. I didn't want to compromise the team's performance or risk further harm to myself.

"I am currently in good health, so there is no need to worry. My condition is improving steadily, and I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming Copa America. I have already commenced training on the field, my recovery is progressing well, and I am hopeful to join the national team training sessions soon. I am thrilled about participating in this Copa America, as it will mark my debut in the tournament."

Fernandez expressed his backing for manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has faced criticism for his handling of the midfielder this season. 

"When I first came, it was chaotic with numerous players," Fernandez stated. "Mauricio brought structure and a sense of identity to the squad. The level of dedication has noticeably increased.

"He has completely transformed the team, and the impact has been beneficial. The team now displays more professionalism and determination. This is crucial for our daily routines, and the results are evident when match day arrives."

Fernandez expressed his desire to participate in the Olympic Games, stating that he would be thrilled to have the opportunity. However, he acknowledged that the final decision lies with Chelsea and he has yet to discuss the matter with them.
